Position Summary
The Receptionist is responsible for welcoming patients and visitors to the Baylor-Tanzania Center of Excellence (COE), directing them to the appropriate departments, and scheduling follow-up appointments for patients.
Duties and Responsibilities

Welcome patients and visitors to the COE, answer their questions, and direct them to the appropriate departments

Orient new patients on COE activities, policies, and procedures
-
Register patients to be seen in the clinic
-
Coordinate with medical records clerk to obtain files of patients with appointments
-
Schedule patient follow-up visits as directed by the clinicians
-
Inform clinicians of COE appointment status: holidays, days that are over-booked or under-booked, special events, etc
-
Generate a list of patients who did not come to clinic on their appointed day and share with social work department
-
Answer telephone calls coming to the COE and direct the caller to the appropriate person

Perform any other relevant duties as required
Qualifications and Experience:

Certificate in Secondary Education and Certificate in secretarial services or related qualifications

At least two years of clerical experience or training at secretarial college
-
Familiarity with health care setting preferable

Commitment to serving patients
-
Ability to work with people from different backgrounds
-
Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Swahili.

Possess excellent customer service skills

Well-organized and able to multi-task and prioritize
-
Ability to maintain confidentiality
-
Proficiency with computers is essential
